J. Wright Building Company Completes Blackridge Custom Home

We are pleased to announce the completion of a brand-new custom home in the stellar Blackridge community in Hoover. Working closely with the homeowner, we designed and built a traditional Craftsman-style lakefront home with a modern farmhouse-style vibe, maximizing spaces for lakeside enjoyment and entertaining.

Situated on the community’s private lake, the homeowners can enjoy lake views from many-windowed rooms, and they can easily access water activities from a large screened porch area that spans the back of the house.

The interior of this home offers modern soaring ceilings, natural light, and a seamless flow to fully optimize the spacious areas. A two-story family room is anchored at one end by a stone fireplace with a beamed mantle. A series of full-glass sliding doors opens the room to the expansive back porch when the weather is right for outdoor entertaining, and lets in an abundance of sunlight for everyday life.

The other end of the room is anchored by the gourmet kitchen. A coffered ceiling with cross beams set over the expansive island visually divides the space from the family room. The cook will find plenty of room to work in the open area. In addition to seating, the quartz island features an undermount stainless steel sink and extra storage. Dark quartz countertops and white cabinetry extends around the perimeter of the room, flanking an oversized gas stove, to provide room for extra cooks in the kitchen, too. A generous walk-in pantry tucked behind the space puts ingredients and small appliances out of sight and within easy reach.

While this home embraces the desire for open living, we also designed nooks and private areas where family members can retreat. For example, a breakfast nook with a vaulted ceiling is tucked away beside the kitchen with beautiful lake views and access to the screened porch.

An upstairs loft offers a new spin on openness while also providing some retreat from the busy living and dining areas. The loft itself is a huge room that the family will put to good use. A balcony juts out almost three feet over the family room, so the areas feel connected while also separate.

The home is finished with luxurious bedroom suites. The main-level owner’s suite has ample space for a sitting area and separate his-and-her closets. The spa-like bath is finished with double vanities, a freestanding tub and an incredible shower with a bench seat and dual showerheads. A guest suite on the main level, along with three upstairs bedrooms, all provide large closets and private bathroom access.

In addition to the private lake and river access, the gated community has a charming Craftsman-style clubhouse with pool.
