All About the View on Indian Lake in Pelham November 13th, 2018 | by Jeremy Wright | Posted in Custom Homes Nothing beats the serenity and beauty of a custom home built on a private lake. One of our most recent homes was built on Indian Lake in Pelham, Alabama. The views are out of this world and there’s something so peaceful and special about the sound and sight of water. Our amazing clients, the Stewarts, know that living on the lake is a very different experience from living anywhere else. While their home is customized to fit their lifestyle, it was also specifically designed and constructed to capture all the spectacular views of Indian Lake. When working with the Stewarts to design and build this home, our team walked the property, assessing every angle, every optimal viewpoint, and every desire of the client until we settled on the location for the home that took advantage of all the beautiful scenery and lake views. All of this was done before we ever put pen to paper to begin the architectural drawings of the home. The best way to bring the outdoors in was to maximize the views with large windows so that the owners could see the lake and nature surrounding their home. Surrounded by horse farms, the view from the front of the home offers a country setting with a wooden fence bordering the property, tall trees surrounding the outskirts of the home and plenty of greenspace in the front yard. The homeowners chose Sherwin Williams Eclipse, a gorgeous dark green, for the exterior paint color. This rich, rustic color combined with stone and wooden elements, as well as a dark brown Sherwin Williams Black Fox trim and Connected Gray shakes, coordinates perfectly against the backdrop of the lake and woods. Walking up to the home, the covered porch provides an open, inviting and relaxing area in which to greet guests. The inside details of the home are just as breathtaking as the exterior components. The owners of this home built it with the intention of being able to enjoy great views from every main room. Each room was constructed so that the windows could display the immaculate views. Ideally, the master bedroom and bathroom, kitchen, dining area and family room are all strategically placed to take advantage of the waterfront views. The modern farmhouse kitchen is angled for perfect views and features a light and airy color palette with a white tile backsplash, white cabinetry and a deep apron-front farmhouse-style sink. To add personality to the room, the island features gray cabinetry. Spice drawers on either side of the range offer a unique storage solution that keeps the clutter off the counter. Adding to the comfortable and inviting atmosphere, the living room showcases hardwood flooring and a rock fireplace with shiplap features and a rough-hewn mantel. The master bedroom also has large windows offering stunning views, as well as a glass door offering easy lake access, while the master bath is truly a room to indulge in with a dual shower detailed with beautiful white marble and an adjoining soaking tub. The soaking tub is the perfect place for relaxation while enjoying stunning views of the lake. The specific details of this custom home are something to take note of, including the walk-in closets and pantry with ample amounts of organization and storage space, as well as the hardwood flooring featured throughout the home. The way the owners chose to bridge the transition from inside to outside is phenomenal with an outdoor entertaining area. The back porch features three ceiling fans, providing additional light for short days and extra air circulation for humid days. There is also an outdoor kitchen feature facing the lake, making dinner outdoors even more enjoyable! Building a lake home presents its own set of challenges and unique circumstances, which means choosing an experienced builder that knows what to expect and how to handle the build is essential. Aside from knowing the challenges, the builder also must know the area. This custom home was built in the No. 4 best suburb in Alabama and is located in Shelby County, voted one of the absolute best places to live in Alabama. At J. This home is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing! I’m in Pennsylvania and I think this would look beautiful on my 1902 craftsman bungalow. Would you please tell me what shingle and color you chose? Also, is that real stacked stone or a veneer? If veneer, can you share the brand? I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to find a similar look but there are so many choices. Reply

Are there any exterior doors that are not stained wood? If so what color are they painted? I am using a similar color scheme and the black fox trim but I have exterior doors on the back deck that will need to be painted and I am not sure what color. Maybe the lighter color of my gables or the black fox? Reply
