Project Feature: Beautiful Custom Home in Dora, AL

While our team at J. Wright Building Company certainly loves a good custom farmhouse, we also love when clients come to us with their own home visions in mind! This custom home client from Dora, Alabama came to us looking to build a more traditional style home with classically refreshing interiors to match. Of course, we were up for the job and worked closely with them to transform these visions into their new forever home.

It’s not just about the curb appeal with these homeowners! The Dora custom home has an all-brick exterior that pairs perfectly to dark brown shingles, decorative gables and window trim. There are also elaborate double door entry featuring wrought iron detailing for added flair – which makes this house stand apart from others in its neighborhood. Located at the front of the home is a spacious dining area with coffered ceilings, which opens to the main living area and kitchen.

In the home’s main living area, a clean and sophisticated kitchen provides the perfect blank canvas with its white cabinetry, white stone countertops, white subway tile backsplash, and built-in stainless-steel appliances. An oversized center island offers even more storage and counter space, while also providing contrast to the other cabinets with its light gray tone. To the side of the kitchen, built-in bench seating allows the homeowners to add a table to create a charming little breakfast nook.

Connected to the kitchen is the home’s cozy living room space. Here, the homeowners chose to incorporate a soaring A-frame ceiling with two dark brown beams running across the width of the room. Centering the room as the main focal point is a rustic, white brick fireplace topped with tan shiplap detailing. Dark brown built-in cabinets sit on either side of the fireplace, providing additional storage within the space. Above these built-ins are two built-in wall shelves that not only serve as a unique design feature but are also great for displaying large decorative pieces. The living area features dark stained double doors that open to the home’s outdoor living space, which includes a lovely screened-in porch and a patio.

Situated on the first floor, this custom Dora home’s owner’s suite is something to be seen! Ceilings set the tone for the room, and the ceiling in this room boasts a unique shiplap design that creates the calming space one would expect from a luxurious owner’s suite. In the bathroom, dark brown dual vanities with plenty of storage are located on either side of the door offering each homeowner their own space to get ready for the day. On the other side of the room, a freestanding tub sits in front of a large, white-tiled walk-in shower with dual shower heads and a glass surround.

This home also features additional bedrooms and custom-designed bathrooms with unique tile features, including herringbone patterned floors. A spacious laundry room features a utility sink, tiled flooring and a window making the space light and bright!
