We recently had the opportunity to create an Alabama custom home for the Harper family. This family dreamt of having an elegant, modern farmhouse-style home, so they called us at J. Wright Building Company to tackle the job. With a passion for building fine artisan homes, we were up for the challenge of creating a beautiful and unique place the Harpers could call home forever.

Situated on the river near a beautiful wooded area, we were excited to start building on such a beautiful location. We made sure to build the home in just the right place so that the back porch and master bedroom had excellent river views. The incredible scenery is the perfect backdrop for this house. With a mixture of classic red brick, stained wooden beams and neat white wood siding, the exterior perfectly combines traditional and farmhouse for a one-of-a-kind home.

The centerpiece of the main level in this custom home is the spacious, gourmet kitchen that flows seamlessly into the rest of the home. With an expansive island perfect for cooking dinner with the whole family and the beautiful stainless-steal appliances, this kitchen is a definite asset to this custom home. The clean white cabinets contrast beautifully with the bronze fixtures and the deep oak color of the hardwood floors. Tying the whole floor together are the dark brown shiplap walls and the clean white trim.

Another exclusive feature of this Alabama custom home is the fireplace. Located in the family room on the main level, this lightly whitewashed brick fireplace has bookcases built into the sides for convenient storage and space for decoration, while double wood beam mantles pair perfectly with the stained shiplap walls.

Upstairs, the beautiful master suite features an impressive number of windows, allowing for an abundance of natural light. A gorgeous shiplap ceiling provides the perfect cap on the room. The owner’s suite continues with an incredible custom closet featuring built-in shelving with his-and-hers sides. Completing the master suite is a beautiful bath with an abundance of detail, including unique plank flooring, tons of storage space, an intricately tiled shower and a beautiful clawfoot tub.

Just a few of the other custom touches found throughout this home include an open second-story loft, home office with beautiful barn door, navy painted formal dining room, a dog cleaning station in the mudroom and a cozy screened-in porch. There’s even a stunning rock pathway down to the side of the river!

One of our favorite things about building custom homes in Alabama is that no two houses are the same. Every potential homebuyer has a different vision, and at J. Wright Building Company, we strive to ensure those dreams are not only met, but also exceeded. To learn more about building your dream home in Alabama, visit JWrightBuildingCompany.com.
